The course also explains the basic jazz ideas needed to appreciate his work, including melody, rhythm, call-and-response, blues language, and the role of improvisation. Each chapter combines guided listening, easy vocabulary, and hands-on exercises so students can connect what they hear with what they understand.
By the end of the course, students will be able to describe Moody’s style in plain language, identify a few signature features in his recordings, and begin listening to jazz more actively and confidently.
