Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TrioEdX LLC (“TrioEdX”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, retains and otherwise processes personal information when you use trioedx.com, our tutoring platform, and the TrioEdX app for Zoom (together, the “Services”). It also explains your privacy rights and how to exercise them.
1. Who we are
TrioEdX is an online tutoring platform where students book live lessons with tutors. The data controller for the Services is TrioEdX LLC, admin@triedx.com. You can contact us about privacy at privacy@trioedx.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored hashed) or sign-in provider details (Google, Apple), profile photo, and your role (student or tutor).
- Tutor profile information: subjects, bio, introduction video, availability, pricing and payout details.
- Booking and purchase information: lessons, lesson packs and subscriptions you book or purchase, lesson times, and billing details. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
- Communications: messages you send to tutors, students or our support team.
Information from the TrioEdX app for Zoom (tutors only)
When a tutor connects their Zoom account, we receive the following through Zoom’s OAuth authorization, using only the permissions the tutor approves:
- The tutor’s Zoom user ID, name and email address, so we can show which Zoom account is connected.
- OAuth access and refresh tokens, so we can act on the tutor’s behalf for the actions below.
- Details of the meetings we create for booked lessons: meeting ID, topic, start time, duration, join link and start link.
We use these permissions only to create, view, update and delete the Zoom meeting for each lesson a student books with that tutor. We do not access the tutor’s contacts, other meetings, recordings, chat messages, or any data belonging to other users in the tutor’s Zoom account. We do not record lessons.
Information collected automatically
- Device and log data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and time of access.
- Cookies needed to keep you signed in, keep items in your cart and secure the site. Where we use optional analytics cookies, we ask for consent where the law requires it.
3. How we use information
- To create and manage your account and provide the Services.
- To schedule lessons and, for tutors who connect Zoom, create and manage the Zoom meeting for each booked lesson and show the join link to the tutor and the booked student.
- To process payments, payouts, refunds and lesson credits.
- To send service messages such as booking confirmations, reminders and changes.
- To provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Services secure.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you; your consent (for example, when a tutor connects Zoom, or for optional cookies); our legitimate interests in running and securing the Services; and compliance with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use Zoom data for advertising or to train AI models.
4. How we share information
- Between tutors and students: a booked student sees the tutor’s profile and the lesson’s join link; a tutor sees the booked student’s name and booking details. Students do not see the tutor’s Zoom email or tokens.
- Zoom: when a tutor connects Zoom, we send Zoom the lesson details needed to create the meeting (topic, time, duration). Zoom’s handling of that data is governed by Zoom’s own privacy statement.
- Service providers: web hosting, payment processing, email delivery and similar vendors who process data for us under contract.
- Legal and safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or others.
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. How we store and protect information
Our Services are hosted on servers in the United States. Zoom OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored on our server in the tutor’s account record, encrypted at rest, and are never shown in the browser or shared with students. All data is sent over HTTPS. Access to production systems is limited to staff who need it.
6. How long we keep information
- Account data: for as long as your account is active, and deleted within 30 days after you delete your account, except where we must keep it longer by law (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).
- Zoom tokens and Zoom profile data: deleted immediately when a tutor disconnects Zoom from their TrioEdX dashboard, and deleted promptly when we receive Zoom’s notice that the tutor removed the app from Zoom.
- Lesson meeting records (meeting ID, time, join link): kept with the booking for as long as the booking record is kept, so we can resolve disputes and refunds.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, the New Jersey Data Privacy Act and similar laws), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, for example by disconnecting Zoom. This does not affect processing already done.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information or targeted advertising (we do neither).
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
How to exercise your rights
- Email privacy@trioedx.com with the subject “Privacy Request” and tell us which right you want to use.
- You can also update most profile information, and delete your account, from your TrioEdX dashboard.
- Tutors can delete their Zoom data at any time by clicking Disconnect Zoom in their TrioEdX dashboard, or by removing the app in the Zoom App Marketplace (Manage › Added Apps › TrioEdX › Remove).
We will verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within 30 days (or 45 days where the law allows). You may use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our response; we will answer your appeal within the time the law requires.
8. Children
Students under 18 may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who creates or supervises the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has given us information without that consent, contact privacy@trioedx.com and we will delete it.
9. International users
If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or on the site before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
